Gloster Meteor F8
Duxford (EGSU)
UK - England, July 12, 2014
Remark
Photographer
WK991 "Imperial War Museum" The Meteor was the first British jet fighter. It made its first flight in 1943 and was operational in July 1944, however the Meteors were not allowed to fly over German territory for fear of being shot down and falling into German hands. They were hence kept back home and given the duty to intercept V1 rockets and to establish jet air combat tactics. No Meteor aerial victory was claimed during WWII. [Nikon D800 / AF-S Nikkor 16-35mm]
