Later processed through the A-6 re-winging program, where the metal wing was replaced by a composite wing. On retirement, the aircraft had completed 4692 flight hours, 1211 catapult launches and 989 arrested landings. Retired to AMARC Davis-Monthan AFB on 13.3.97 as AN5A0250. Struck off charge 14.6.02. 159388/NE-701 S-3A of VS-38 at left. |

When retired, had 5988 hours, 1017 cat launches, 1115 traps. Sunk off Florida as artificial reef "Intruder Alley". Next is 161688/NE-401 (cn I-665) of VMA(AW)-121. Retired to AMARC Davis-Monthan AFB on 3.11.93 as AN5A0111. |

Now preserved on USS Lexington Museum On The Bay, Corpus Christi, Texas, in VA-196 markings as NK-500. |
