163215 / AA-204 (cn 576) Until 1991, the aircraft of Fighting 103 Sluggers (Oceana, VA) wore a yellow (or low-viz gray) arrow marking on their tails. However, the insignia changed to possibly reflect the call sign, Clubleaf (the sqn. insignia also), as shown on these two Tomcats in for fuel at the NAS Atlanta t-line. Incidentally, Clubleaf 203's BuNo (overpainted on this side) is 162920; the light blue paint as compared to Clubleaf 204 is notable. |

161435 / AA-103 (cn 445/KB-26) "The Bones" in your face!! The showbird for VF-103 Jolly Rogers poses on the quiet NAS Atlanta ramp late in the afternoon on the Friday before the 2000 air show. Following a practice that began for Navy fighter units in the late-80's, this colorfully marked aircraft's side number matches the unit number to make it a fitting representative at air shows. This F-14B is a rebuilt A-model finished in the now universal TPS grays. |

During this time, the entire squadron carried colorful markings on the TPS finish, though this was relatively brief. The red, white, and blue "USA" on the tail is somewhat confusing shorthand for the carrier assignment, USS America. |
