WJ231 / O-115 The Sea Fury was a carrier based fighter-bomber powered by a single 2,480hp Bristol Centaurus 18 radial engine, armed with four 20mm guns in the wings and provision for eight 60lb rocket projectiles or two 1,000lb bombs under the wings. Built in 1951, it served aboard HMS Ocean and Unicorn as well as several land bases before being struck off in 1965. Built at Langley in 1947, this fabulous aeroplane was lost in an accident off the coast at Prestwick seven years later. |
