NC14260 / 64 (cn 1011) This is the less famous Lockheed Electra, the 10 not the 188 version and is perhaps most well known as the aircraft in which Amelia Earhardt disappeared over the central Pacific in 1937. This particualr example is now on display at the wonderful Pima Air & Space museum. |

NC14260 / 64 (cn 1011) USAAF 42-56638. This aircraft had quite the life... it started out as a Northwest aircraft, but was forced into military service in 1942. It was given back to Northwest in 1944, then was sold to the air force of Honduras in 1953. It ended up back in the Pima Air and Space collection as its original self. [Nikon D200] |

VH-UZO (cn 1107) Delivered to Ansett Airways in 1937, "Ansertes" is now displayed in Australia's Museum of Flight. This classic Electra has had an amazingly colourful history. It has experienced a broken prop in flight, undercarriage collapse, lightning strike and countless forced landings due to more minor problems. Luckily it seems to have made it through mostly intact! Just goes to show how far aviation has come in a few decades. [Canon EOS 20D] |
