VH-XUS / 18-2388 (cn 18-2388) Taken at Canberra Airport, after a 0.2 hour sight-seeing flight over (new) Parliament House Canberra. I also photographed this aircraft while she was on static display at the Inaugural 1992 Avalon Airshow. The aicraft was painted in brown USAAC livery, and the Nose Art wording was 'Flew the Coop'. She was originally delivered to the USAAC as 42-55951 in 1943. I believe she went to the Wanaka Transport Museum around 1997. |

N714S (cn 18-2361) Gate guardian at Rafaela AeroClub for many years, this old Lodestar is the only one of at least 31 Lodestars that operated in Argentina that still (2010) exists. On 07 November 1969 she was seized as N714S, after making an emergency landing at Formosa AeroClub while hauling cargo illegally from Paraguay into Argentina. She was previously painted with the fake registration LV-ACR, which has recently been removed. |
