Untitled
Lockheed EC-121T Warning Star (L-1049A)
Chino (CNO)
USA - California, July 24, 2013
Remark
Photographer
N548GF / 30548 (cn 4363) This Connie was delivered to the USAF in 1955 as RC-121D 53-548 and converted to EC-121 standard eight years later. Her last base was Homestead and was the last EC-121T to be SOC and flown to MASDC in 1978. After being rescued from the boneyard by the Pima A&SM she was declared surplus to their needs, sold and, after restoration, appeared at air shows until being grounded by corrosion at Camarillo in 2000. Bought in 2005 by Yanks Air Museum she was finally ferried to CNO on 14th Jan. 2012.

Lockheed EC-121T Warning Star (L-1049A)
Keflavik (KEF / BIKF)
Iceland, September 6, 1976
Remark
Photographer
52-3412 (cn 4330) One more remembrance photo of the radar pickets that extended the radar coverage of the DEW line to cover the gap over the Atlantic. It is really amazinf that these planes soldiered on for so long and that when this photo was taken, they still had two more years of service left.

Iceland, June 10, 1978
Remark
Photographer
54-2307 (cn 4389) Another photo of 307, one of the few EC-121Ts that did not have the upper radome for the height finding radar removed.

Lockheed EC-121T Warning Star (L-1049A)
Keflavik (KEF / BIKF)
Iceland, June 7, 1977
Remark
Photographer
55-0122 (cn 4395) Taxying down runway 20/02 and preparing to take off to the north. This is one of those photos that so well show the changes in the vegetation around the airport. Who would have thought that this lavabased rocky runway should could sprout the grass that is growing there today. I will be adding some more photos of this the last EC-121T to leave Keflavik in the near future.

Keflavik (KEF / BIKF)
Iceland, July 20, 1977
Remark
Photographer
53-0548 (cn 4363) One of two EC-121s that I photographed from the roof of hangar 885 which now seems only fit for tearing down for steel reclamation. If so, it will be a big landmark removal on the field.

Iceland, July 24, 1978
Remark
Photographer
52-3412 (cn 4330) A sight for sore eyes. These Super Constellations are among the sleekest and most beautiful aircraft ever built and the sound of the four 3200 horsepower Wright R-3350 18 cylinder radials was just as beautful. You can still see a few in museums and fewer are still flying.

Lockheed EC-121T Warning Star (L-1049A)
Keflavik (KEF / BIKF)
Iceland, October 3, 1978
Remark
Photographer
55-0122 (cn 4395) Taken in bad light the day before 122, the last operational EC-121T at Keflavik left for the USA. At this time it had some graffiti like TWA and the 57th FIS checkerboard added to the ariframe. Nobody was going to object since the plane was going to go straight to the boneyard.
