Lockheed SR-71A Blackbird
Marietta - Dobbins ARB (Atlanta NAS) (MGE / KMGE)
USA - Georgia, March 23, 1990
Remark
Photographer
61-7958 (cn 2009) The king is dead... The small Blackbird fleet of the 9th Strategic Recon. Wg. at Beale AFB, CA, was phased out of the USAF at the beginning of 1990. By special arrangement through Lockheed Georgia Public Affairs, the plane going to the Robins AFB museum diverted for some low passes at Dobbins on the way on this unfortunately overcast day (it is star of the collection to this day). Yeah, I know 2 Habu's were reactivated in 1995-8 but they didn't quite become operational before they were cut (again!!).

Lockheed SR-71A Blackbird
Warner Robins - Robins AFB (WRB / KWRB)
USA - Georgia, October 1988
Remark
Photographer
61-7968 (cn 2019) The cavernous afterburner nozzle of No.2 P&W J-58, the sleek, rakish lines, and the velvet black finish alert the airshow visitor that this is no ordinary airplane on display. Undoubtedly the star of the 1988 Robins AFB show, this 9th Strategic Reconnaisance Wing Sled basks in its charismatic mystique for the crowd under beautifully clear skies. Quite an awesome experience to stand near one of these when it was operational. Within a year and a half, these futuristic birds had been phased out...
