USA - Marines
McDonnell Douglas A-4M Skyhawk II
Marietta - Dobbins ARB (Atlanta NAS) (MGE / KMGE)
USA - Georgia, July 30, 1991
Remark
Photographer
160024 / QG-06 (cn 14526) The Marine Air Reserve once boasted several attack squadrons, among them VMA-131 Diamondbacks from NAS Willow Grove, PA. This low-viz Scooter carries the diamond stripe that was not often seen on this scheme. A few years later (c.1994), the unit phased out the A-4M and stood down, a fate shared by most sister units.

McDonnell Douglas A-4M Skyhawk II
Marietta - Dobbins ARB (Atlanta NAS) (MGE / KMGE)
USA - Georgia, December 1988
Remark
Photographer
158162 / MB-01 (cn 14199) What could only be the product of a very recent re-paint is this absolutely immaculately finished Marine Scooter on the NAS Atlanta transit line. The maligned Tactical Paint Scheme probably never looked better than modeled by this visitor from Attack Sqn. 142 Flying Gators at NAS Cecil Field, FL.

McDonnell Douglas A-4M Skyhawk II
Marietta - Dobbins ARB (Atlanta NAS) (MGE / KMGE)
USA - Georgia, October 8, 1989
Remark
Photographer
158428 / CF-14 (cn 14250) A pleasant Sunday morning on the NAS Atlanta transit line found 2 rare visitors: A-4M's of Marine Attack 211 Wake Avengers from MCAS Yuma, AZ. This angle seems to emphasize the elegant compactness of the Scooter, even in its ultimate "M" model. Both aircraft carried intriguing names and call signs; in this case Capt. "Burger" King!

Remark
Photographer
158424 / CF-13 (cn 14246) Another of the two Marine Skyhawks visiting NAS Atlanta from MCAS Yuma, this one shows the typical final color scheme and markings for the attack Scooter in its final years of service: TPS grays and dark gray and black markings. The Wake Avengers were the last A-4M unit to trade in their Scooters for the AV-8B. Assigned pilot: Capt. "Cess" Claypool (this is getting a bit ridiculous!).
