Portugal, May 18, 2013
Remark

N41CX (cn 46129/523) One of the most beautiful things I've ever seen!! This DC-8 just landed with perfect light conditions, illuminating all of those four loud engines... Probably something we won't see again, since now this route is done on the B757... Long live the DC-8!! [Canon 7D + Sigma 120-400]

Air Transport International - ATI
McDonnell Douglas DC-8-62CF
Kalaeloa - John Rodgers Field (JRF / PHJR)
USA - Hawaii, June 5, 2013
Remark
Photographer
N799AL (cn 45922/335) On May 18, 2013, N799AL made her final flight from Hickam AFB to Kalaeloa where she will be on permanent display at the Naval Air Museum - Barbers Point. Delivered to SAS in 1968, this aircraft has since seen every corner of the world and flew with a variety of airlines including Hawaiian Airlines. Her flying career might now be over, but the volunteers at the Naval Air Museum intend on keeping her in the best shape possible. Can't beat a retirement in a beautiful place like Hawaii!

N41CX (cn 46129/523) [Canon T3i / EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS] Might be the last time I see this bird...ATI is taking in their 757s now over the historic DC-8.

Remark

N41CX (cn 46129/523) Have you ever seen such a thing? I believe it's a compressor stall and it's the second time I saw such an incredible (and loud) happening, the first being in a L1011 taking-off! After touch-down, this DC-8 started reversing and loud bangs were noticed! [Canon 7D + Sigma 120-400]
