10639 / 6 (cn 10639) Built at Erla in Leipzig in 1942, Heinz Lüdermann was flying with 8./JG 27 over the African desert when, after being damaged by a Curtis P-40, he force-landed at Gambut. The aircraft was captured by British troops on 31-Nov-1942. It was shipped to Liverpool where it underwent evaluation trials as RN228. It was put into storage, then later restored and flew the airshow circuit in the 1990s as G-USTV. Unfortunately she crashed again on 12-Oct-1997 at Duxford. Now restored to non-flying condition. |
