10639 / 6 (cn 10639) This 109 was built in Leipzig in 1942 and ferried to North Africa, entered service with 8/JG77 and was danaged in combat a few days later. It was flown to Gambut Main for repair but captured essentially intact when this airfield was overrun. She was extensively testes and evaluated before being shipped to the UK where the serial RN228 was allocated. Following a crash at Duxford in 97 it was decided that she should be rebuilt to static display standard and ariived at the RAF Museum in March 02. |

No Reg (cn 54) A (very rare) Hispano Ha 1109, which belongs to the Messerschmitt Stiftung. It spent several years in the open at the MBB facilities in Augsburg and was then restored/converted to represent a Bf 109G-2. It went on display at a museum in Munich painted in green primer only, acquired a camouflage scheme without markings and then the odd all-over silver scheme shown in the photo. BIAF 2011. |

10639 / 6 (cn 10639) Built in Sept. 1942 at Leipzig and sent to Libya to serve with JG 77. This aircraft had minor battle damage and was abandoned in an almost new condition in Nov. 1942 to the advancing Allies. Thereafter, 'Black 6’ was tested extensively in the Middle East and UK during the war. Restored to flying condition in 1991 as G-USTV. Damaged in a crash-landing at Duxford in 1997. |

10639 / 6 (cn 10639) Built at Leipzig by Erla Maschinenwerk GmbH in September 1942, construction started as F-3 but converted to G-2/Trop version, allocated factory code PG+QJ. In October assigned to III./JG77 and transferred to the 8th Jagdgruppe in North Africa. On 11th November lost in action and two day later discovered abandoned at LG139 Gambut 1 airbase, captured by British troops, shipped to Liverpool and tested by RAF between February 1944 and November 1945. Since 1946 grounded, stored or displayed. In 1972 returned to flying condition, in 1997 crashed at Duxford. Then repaired and since 2002 displayed at RAF Museum Hendon. |
