Republic P-47G Thunderbolt
Duxford (EGSU)
UK - England, July 13, 2013
Remark
Photographer
G-CDVX / 225068/WZ-D (cn 21953) After a long restoration programme at Duxford and Chino this stunning P-47 was given its permit to fly towards the end of 2011. It is marked as P-47D serial 42-74742 code WZ-D, nicknamed Snafu/War Eagle from 84th FS / 78th FG operating from Duxford in early 1944. Sadly this P-47 was sold back to the United States in the summer of 2013.

Remark
Photographer
G-CDVX / 225068/WZ-D (cn 21953) Beautiful P-47G 'Razorback' built in Buffalo, NY in early 1944. These mighty fighter-bombers appeared to be highly-effective ground-attack aircrafts due to their extreme ruggedness.

G-CDVX / 225068/WZ-D (cn 21953) Duxford Spring Air SHow 2013 - Perhaps the most favourable member of the "Eagle Squadron", this is the P-47 Thunderbolt "SNAFU". Here she basks in the morning sun before the days demonstrations at the Air Show.

G-CDVX / 225068/WZ-D (cn 21953) Duxford Spring Air SHow 2013 - The human interface zone of this beautiful machine of the skies. This Thunderbolt "SNAFU" certainly did impress us all. She is one of the four warbirds that make up the newly formed "Eagle Squadron" along with

G-CDVX / 225068/WZ-D (cn 21953) Duxford Spring Air SHow 2013 - In the morning light this big beast awaits the time slot to perform with the "Eagle Squadron" at the Air Show. This show was elevated in an attempt to get a view along its centre line straight down the prop shaft.
