VN485 (cn SMAF.21567) One of only three Mk24 Spitfires surviving today, this fine example really exemplifies the sleek lines of a late-model Spitfire. Note the bulged cylinder-head covers - only evident on Rolls-Royce Griffon powered Spitfires. This example served with the Royal Hong Kong Auxiliary AF and was displayed with them at Kai Tak from 1955 to 1989. Now preserved at the Imperial War Museum Duxford. |

VN485 (cn SMAF.21567) A late-model Spitfire, looking more akin to a Reno-racer than the Mk.1 at the start of the war. Built in 1948 and delivered to SOC Kai Tak, Hong Kong on 28-Aug-1951. Last flew on 21-Apr-1955 and preserved at Kai Tak until delivery to Imperial War Museum Duxford in 1996. Just rolled out from a beautiful restoration a few weeks ago. |

PK683 (cn CBAF.236) Absolutely stunning example of this late-model Spitfire on display in the city where Spitfires were designed and manufactured. Built for the Singapore Auxiliary Air Force, she was later on display in Singapore's Kallang Airport from 1954-1960. Then gate-gaurd at RAF Changi, Singapore from 1962-1970. She spent the 1970s in various English RAF bases. Since 1976 she's taken pride of place in Southampton's Solent Sky museum. |
