XD818 The RAF Museum at Cosford has the only surviving, complete example of the Valiant. Indeed, at Cosford one can also see a Vulcan and a Victor, so is the only place where all three British V-bombers are on display. |

XD875 This was the last Valiant off the production line and although she was scrapped in the early Sixties at RAF Wittering fortunately the nose section survives and has migrated to the Highland Aviation Museum at INV. |

XD875 This is a picture of an analogue time capsule! I spent a lot of time in there just looking at all the knobs and switches as well as admiring the crew members who worked them. |

XD818 The first of the V Bombers and the only remaining fully intact Valiant in the world. This was the actual aircraft used to drop Britains first thermonuclear (Hydrogen) bomb near Malden Island in Kiribati (near Christmas Island) on 15 May1957. Although the Valiant was never used in its primary role, armed with conventional bombs, it attacked Egyptian airfields during the Suez crisis in 1956. On static display inside the Cold War hangar at the excellent RAF Museum, Cosford (Canon 50D + Sigma 10-20 EX DC HSM) |
