CP Air
Boeing 747-217B
Abbotsford (YXX / CYXX)
Canada - British Columbia, January 1981
Remark
Photographer
C-FCRA / 741 (cn 20801/225) CP Air's first 747 diverted due to fog. In the days of major pulp mills on the Southern BC coast aiding fog formation and before CAT III approaches, closure of Vancouver International airport due to weather was more common. CP Air would organize a near by "Abbotsford operation" to run many of their flights. The "Empress of Japan" would later go to Pakistan International Airlines in a deal that saw CP's 747-217s traded for PIA's DC-10-30s.

CP Air
Boeing 737-217
Toronto - Lester B. Pearson International (Malton) (YYZ / CYYZ)
Canada - Ontario, September 1977
Remark
Photographer
CF-CPZ / 707 (cn 20197/149) Arriving in front of Toronto's original Terminal 1 which opened February 28, 1964. You could almost always see a few spotters taking advantage of the parking levels and roof for a good view. The building closed April 6, 2004 simutaneously with the opening of the new Terminal 1 that was built adjacent to the old one. It was quickly torn down to make room for more International gates.
