Withdrawn in October 1966.

G-AWEJ (cn 115) Although living near Southend at the time, I only ever got b&w photos of the Channel jets there. Their second 1-11 was delivered new in 5.68 in the classic Goldenjet scheme inherited with the ex-Continental Viscounts. Passed to BA in 10.73 as G-BBMG following Channel's demise and served Birmingham European/Maersk Air till sold to Nationwide as ZS-OAH in 4.97. Wfu at Lanseria 2003 and b/u late 2005

G-AVHE (cn 363) With the shadow of one of the Comets that was supposed help Channel expand, two of the wfu Golden Viscounts stand forlorn (G-ATVE to the right). Just a month later the airline finally stopped flying altogether, the Viscounts being scrapped in June. The nose of 'HE was saved and is now displayed on the roof of Stuttgart airport in quasi-Lufthansa colours
