Edgley EA-7 Optica
Old Warden - Biggleswade
UK - England, May 19, 2013
Remark
Photographer
G-BOPO (cn 021) Shuttleworth Air Display 2013 - One of the most odd looking aircraft at the day's events was this Optica. The concept if this aircraft with its high visibility was to enable a cheaper alternative to helicopter operations for Police and Traffic monitoring. This aircraft was restored in 2008 and is now the only airworthy example in the European region. It is hoped that interest is reignited in the aircraft and orders will once again be placed.

Edgley EA-7 Optica
Thruxton (EGHO)
UK - England, October 1, 2012
Remark
Photographer
G-BOPO (cn 021) Built as a low cost alternative to helicopters, the Optica offers excellent flying characteristics and great panoramic views through her glassed nose. Perfectly suited for survey work. The project is looking for investors to be able to go ahead and put the aircraft into production.

Edgley EA-7 Optica Srs 301
Northampton - Sywell (ORM / EGBK)
UK - England, September 4, 2010
Remark
Photographer
G-BOPO (cn 021) Seen arriving for the LAA Rally, the Optica is a type that first flew in 1979 with the unusual ducted fan pusher propellor. It has excellent low speed characteristics and superb all round visibility with a cabin that is reminiscent of an Alouette II helicopter. The type is a far cheaper alternative to helicopters for surveillance operations such as Police work.

Northampton - Sywell (ORM / EGBK)
UK - England, September 6, 2009
Remark
Photographer
G-BOPO (cn 021) It was a real treat to see an Optica in the air again. The Optica first flew in 1979 with the unusual ducted fan pusher propellor. It has excellent low speed characteristics and superb all round visibility making it a cheaper alternative to helicopters for surveillance operations such as Police work. It is hoped that these may soon re-enter production
