A84-229 / 229 (cn 229) Close cropped view of the tails of three RAAF Canberras in outdoor storage at Amberley in 1976, with jacks supporting them. The closest aircraft is ex 2 Squadron Canberra A84-229 (Delivered April 1957), which was later swapped for the RAAF Museum's Ventura (ex-USA). A2-508 (cn 9508) Rare low res view of RAAF (Air Force) UH-1H A2-508 on Bidan Island (near Butterworth, Malaysia) in April 1981. The SAR helo, operated by RAAF Transport Support Flight (TSF) had just completed a 0.3 hour crew training flight from Butterworth. The RMAF took over SAR in April 1982 (when A2-506 and A2-509 were shipped to 9 Sqn Amberley aboard HMAS TOBRUK.) Apologies for quality of this 28 year old photo. |

A20-809 (cn 19809/657) Rare low res view of the front end of the first RAAF Boeing 707 hulk: A20-809 (named 'Hulksbury') taken in the rain in 1992, next to the Richmond Control Tower. She lacks MLG wheels, engines (and tail fin), among other items. This aircraft was formerly Saudi Arabian Airlines HZ-ACC (the first B707 operated by that Airline - Delivered Jan1968). She was purchased by the RAAF to provide spare engines and other parts, to support the RAAF B707 fleet. Photo taken before departure to Farnborough 92 in A20-624. |

A20-624 / 624 (cn 19624/689) Another Farewell Visit to Canberra by the last operational RAAF Boeing 707. The aircraft has performed '29 Years of service to the Nation'. 'Farewell B707 - 1979-2008'. She was officially retired at Richmond late in June 2008. The aircraft is taxying away from the Former RAAF Fairbairn apron. There is a Special 'Farewell Logo' on the tail of this 33 Squadron aircraft. (A20-624 was formerly Qantas VH-EAD). |

A94-922 / 22 (cn CA27-22) Low res view of RAAF Sabre A94-922 in the rain (at dusk) at RAAF Base Amberley on 16May1992. The Sabre, also known as the 'Sword', was fitted with a Rolls Royce Avon engine. This aircraft (Del: Mar 1956), in yellow/black 2(F)OCU colours and 'Marksmen' Aerobatic Team logo, was photographed the day that 482 Squadron and 3 Aircraft Depot closed and re-formed as 501 Wing (50 years after these units were formed during WWII.) A94-922 was used as the 'Firestreak' Trials Aircraft, and she was SOC in May 1973. |

A79-*** A derelict RAAF Vampire languishes near the RAAF Museum at RAAF Point Cook in 1988. She has a large hole in the ply-wood in the fuselage and she lacks the cockpit canopy and avionics bay. This Vampire looks beyond recovery. She was not in Museum 'Display Condition'. Can anyone please advise the Serial Number and what happened to this aircraft? (RAAF Vampire aircraft were usually painted Silver, with DayGlo on the nose, wingtips and fins.) Low res photo. Apologies for Quality. |

A2-485 (cn 11773) Rare low res view of RAAF Aircraft Research and Development Unit (ARDU) UH-1H A2-485 at RAAF Fairbairn in 1987. The helo had been painted White for Service with the Multi-National Force of Observers (MFO) at El Gorah in the Sinai from 1982-86. (The helo crashed into power lines near Queanbeyan NSW on 17Nov1977. She was later repaired and returned to 5 Squadron Fairbairn.) Apologies for the quality of this 22 year old photo. |

A79-830 (cn 4115) Weather-worn RAAF Vampire A79-830 languishes at RAAF Fairbairn in 1983. 'Open air storage' has exposed the ply-wood in the fuselage and she lacks the cockpit canopy. This Vampire had seen better days. A79-830 was Delivered in April 1955, and after retirement she was Allotted to RAAF Fairbairn for 'Display'. She was not in 'Display Condition'. This ARDU aircraft was delivered to the RAAF in May 1945 as 44-76774, Callsign VH-RFK. The Dakota was the RAAF's oldest aircraft type in 1990.
