N888WA (cn 6424) The finished (apart from some clocks) cockpit section looks truely magnificent and a testament to all those volunteer manhours neccessary to bring it back to such a pristine condition. Note the reg. plate (XA-NAR) visible in the centre of the control panel. This aircraft never actually flew with BOAC, rather will eventually be displayed in its true Mexicana markings at the Museum of Flight at BFI. |

G-ARVJ (cn 812) Delivered to BOAC on 23.4.64 and seen here on finals to 10L at LHR round about the time of the British Airways merger, this magnificent machine was painted in Gulf Air colours as A4O-VI in 10.75 but continued to be operated by BA on behalf of the Emir of Qatar. Became ZD493 on 10.9.82 and ferried from LHR to Brize Norton as BA9553E for spares use by the RAF. Slowly broken up from 1988 with fuselage used for fire practice; gone by 1994 |

G-APAS (cn 06022) Built at Hatfield and the last of the twenty-one Comet 1 models. First flew on 16-Mar-1953 and delivered to Air France four months later as F-BGNZ. Along with two other Air France Comets and two from the RCAF, placed into storage at Kemble due to the spate of Comet accidents in 1954. Registered as G-APAS for the Ministry of Supply then XM823 for development work by De Havilland. Painted in 1978 into this BOAC scheme, markings this aircraft never carried in service. Preserved here since September 1978. |
