G-AIVO (cn 228) In March 1960 the Cunard Steamship Company bought a 60% interest in the Eagle Group of companies, which resulted in a new company colour scheme and titles as can be seen on G-AIVO. In February 1963 Harold Bamberg, the previous owner of Eagle Airways, bought the 60% Cunard share of the business, but it was not till August 1963 before this buy-back was complete and the name changed to British Eagle Airlines. |

G-AJPH (cn 207) This Viking was completed with Nene jet engines, on its first flight on 06 April 1948 it became the world's first entirely jet powered airliner. After being converted back to piston engines it served with Cunard Eagle Airways, it was taken out of service in 1961, and broken up and moved to the gravel pits in nearby Bedfont, where i believe it was buried and is now under houses. A sad end to a historic aircraft. |
