9Q-COP (cn 18323/136) More than a month after the crash of the aircraft debris was still scattered over the place where it ended up. The Boeing must have made a 180 turn when it hit the ground: the tail points towards the runway. Unconfirmed stories speak about the aircraft having an excessive number of passengers on board and that it was low on fuel when it reached Kisangani. |

9Q-COG (cn 23178/97) One of my personal highlights of this trip, even if she has seen better days. Looks as if parts have already been salvaged if you take a closer look at the LE slats and MLG doors. |

9Q-COP (cn 18323/136) Runway 31 of Kisangani International. At the bottom on the right is clearly the spot visible where 9Q-COP crashed two weeks before, some parts of the unfortunate aircraft are still laying there. Pending the inquiry the AAC (DRCongo CAA) has suspended operations of HBA. The airline CAA is the only airline during this suspension that is operating nationwide. Compagnie Africaine de l'Aviation recently acquired a 'new' A320, 9Q-CCA. |

9Q-COP (cn 18323/136) Taken on one of its last flights before it 'disappeared'. A HBA mechanic based in Goma said in Jan 2011 that COP would return into service as addition to the MD82s. The plane was seen in Feb 2011 in the MX area of Kinshasa's N'Djili airport (South end), as well as all other HBA 727s (-200 series) that were phased out by 2009-2010 and 3 HBA cargo jets (727F, DC-8F and 707F). Oscar Papa reentered service, but crashed on July 8th, 2011 in short finals of Kisangani Int'l in bad WX conditions. |

9Q-COZ (cn 49254/1156) HBA had at the moment the image was taken four MD-82s in service, with a fifth to join the fleet. Oscar Zulu had one owner before, American Airlines, and was registered N241AA. Hewa Bora has one MD based in Goma from where services to Kisangani, Kinshasa and Lubumbashi are conducted. The company's only remaining 727, 9Q-COP, is due to be phased out shortly. |
