USA - Florida, April 1, 2006
Remark
Photographer
N19904 (cn 1997) Yes, she is riding on water. Formerly owned/used by Howard Hughes (bought 1939 TWA). One of 10 307s built. First high-altitude commercial and first four-engine airliner in scheduled domestic service. Total of 500 flight hours over 25 years until hurricane damage in 1964. In 1974, wings/tail off, and fuselage converted motor yacht. The “plane-boat” features twin V-8 inboards incorporating the original aircraft cockpit controls that were used to fly the plane, Imagine Howard Huey's looking out of the window.

Plane Boats
Boeing 307 Stratoliner
Off-Airport - Fort Lauderdale
USA - Florida, September 24, 2005
Remark
Photographer
N19904 (cn 1997) Howard Hughes's personal BBJ cockpit. He sat at these very controls and piloted this very plane. It was his private Stratoliner bought in 1939. This is the world's first BBJ and is revolutionary in design. Now she cruises the waterways of Ft.Lauderdale off the Isle of Venice thanks to the preservations efforts of Mr.David R. Drimmer. Excellent forward visibility.

N19904 (cn 1997) Howard Hughes's personal BBJ cabin. Originally planned for an around the world record flight with spartan interior and extra tanks. She was refitted by Boeing (hence 1st BBJ built). Now with original Raymond Loewy designed furniture and fittings featured in the salon next to the original bar that Rita Hayworth had custom windows installed so she could see the clouds go by while she poured martinis for many famous guests. The computer is a modern touch. Cockpit door is open. Preserved by Mr. David R. Drimmer.

Boeing 307 Stratoliner
Off-Airport - Miami
USA - Florida, September 27, 2003
Remark

Only in Miami!
