Stinson SM-1B Detroiter
Grand Canyon - Valle (Robidoux / Arizona State / Municipal) (40G)
USA - Arizona, October 10, 2007
Remark
Photographer
N7468B / 1517 (cn M-267) The latest gem in the collection of John Seibold (founder of the modern Scenic Airlines). Siebold has been steadily collecting examples of vintage Grand Canyon sightseeing aircraft. The very first aircraft to do so was the Stinson Monoplane 'Detroiter', operated by Scenic Airways in 1927. Only 30 Detroiters were built, and Scenic's was unique - with taller panoramic windows and additional circular cockpit window. This example was restored to flight in 2007 and configured to represent Scenic's original NC1517 (cn M-209). It was officially reregistered to N1517 on March 18, 2010.
