CJ712 (cn 09/05) Twelve Jet Provost T.Mk.51s were purchased new in 1959 (Sri Lanka being the launch customer for this variant) and assigned serials CJ701-CJ712. The T.Mk.51 was purpose-built for light-attack duties, with two .303-in (7.7-mm) machine guns in the walls of the engine air intakes and underwing racks for typical loads of four rockets and eight 25-lb fragmentation bombs. Now a gate guard at the local children's park in Colombo. |

CH-635 This Mi-24 is hovering above Mihintale. A place of spirtual significance for the Sri Lankan people. This is the place where Bhuddhism originated in Sri Lanka. I wondered what the monks, looking at us standing on the mountain endge, were thinking.... |

CH542 (cn 31235) This Bell-212, loaded with relief goods, passes the damaged village of Arugam Bay, on the east coast of Sri Lanka, on its way to a camp for displaced people. Arugam Bay was one of the many villages severely hit by the tsunami. What I noticed was that the people of Sri Lanka are really grateful for all the support that was given to them from all over the world! |
