Untitled (T & G Aviation)
Consolidated PB4Y-2 Privateer
Chandler - Gila River Memorial (34AZ)
USA - Arizona, May 1981
Remark
Photographer
N3739G / 30 The Privateer entered Navy service during the late summer of 1944 with the last of 739 delivered in October 1945. It was developed from the B-24 Liberator as a maritime patrol bomber and had six gun turrets - note the deleted rear fuselage blisters in this view. N3739G was originally the USN's Bu no. 59819 and this identity is now quoted as the aircraft's msn. Retired as a fire bomber in 1991 and to the Lone Star Museum, Galveston, TX; now near the end of a full restoration to original military condition

Untitled (T & G Aviation)
Douglas DC-7B
Coolidge - Municipal (P08)
USA - Arizona, February 2008
Remark
Photographer
N4887C / 33 (cn 45351/903) Originally delivered to Delta Airlines on Nov. 25 1957. The aircraft has been converted for use as a fire bomber (Tanker 33), carrying 3000 gallons of flame retardant in the belly tank. The owner decided to repaint it in the classic Delta livery except the airline wasn't too happy with that - so after some negotiation the Delta titles had to go but the colors and crown tail logo could stay.

N90802 / 115 (cn 45112/736) Back at its home base at the end of the fire-bombing season. A week earlier it had been tackling fires in California, operating from Lancaster-Fox Field. Traces of its original BOAC paintwork and "Seven Seas" titling were just visible beneath the cockpit.
