A84-223 (cn 23) Built by the Government Aircraft Factory for the RAAF and made its first flight at Avalon on 7 Sept 1955. Brought on RAAF charge a month later, on 7 Oct. Disposed of in 1980 to Chewing Gum Field Air Museum, Tallebudgera, Qld, for a decade before being stored at Luskintyre, NSW, 92-98. Acquired by David Lowy and transported to Bankstown for restoration to fly, arriving Oct 1998. Restoration abandoned due to hidden structural damage. To Temora Aviation Museum 2001 and on external display. |

This ex-RAF aircraft is painted to represent 2 Sqn RAAF aircraft A84-234, as operated in Vietnam. The aircraft is regularly flown at Temora and other locations by Rod Luke, who did a Canberra conversion in 1977. I went for a 2.0 hour target-towing sortie in A84-240 at Butterworth on 18Feb1981. A84-240 (Del: Apr1958) went to RNZAF Museum, Wigram, New Zealand in Aug1984. (A84-241 is on display in Woomera, SA.) |
