PH-LKX (cn 4508) Night turn round, movement of ground equipment and personel can be seen during the time exposure. Also note the only recently applied logo on the forward fuselage "40 Years 1919 - 1959" of KLM operations. This aircraft was finally withdrawn from service about two years later on 31 October 1961 at Amsterdam and broken up two years later. |

PP-PDD (cn 2033) Parked at the then International Terminal, still located at London Airport's north side. The period Pan Am van, the KLM DC-3 in the background, the tail of a BOAC Argonaut alongside before they were painted navy blue, and the Constellation just airborne, all add to the scene. These were the days before airport security fences, when it was possible to get photographs if you were careful and could outrun a policeman on a bike. No patrol cars on the apron in those days. |

N7109C (cn 4590) Sharing the old Heathrow Northside tarmac with BOAC white tail Canadair Argonauts, the SuperG was the last stretch Connie with the original wing design. One of these caused a few worried phone calls and got a mention in the London papers when it flew across SouthEast England trailing smoke from an engine oil leak, I saw it on final to Heathrow where it arrived safely. |

PH-DAM (cn 19549) My father took this picture. I give his comment: In close-up a DC-3 can look impressive. I didn’t remember the registration of this one anymore, as I took this picture half a century ago! Thanks to Airliners.net members I found out that this is PH-DAM. As can be seen, Brownie box-cameras are good performers if used the right way. The people behind the plane belonged to the lucky few that could afford to get airborne these post-war days. |
