I had driven down to spend the weekend shooting heavies at LAX. I just pulled up to the little park next to the In N’ Out Burger when I ran into fellow A.net photographer and friend Paul Paulsen. Then this dramatic sunset broke thru the clouds. It looked like the sky had caught fire!! Paul and I shot for nearly twenty minutes before the sun dipped below the horizon and the light got too low. This is what LAX is all about in the winter. Ahh..what a weekend!! |

After a "non parallel" downwind leg (45°), the Captain starts a SINGLE turn at 600 feet (600 !!!). Vilnius Airport is located just 7km from the city centre of Lithuania's capital. Passenger flights started in 1944, with the monumental architectural terminal building being opened in 1954. The building was substantially expanded in the 1990s, but the Soviet neo-classical frontage was cleverly retained. A brand-new terminal building is now under construction - let's hope they retain their sense style and occasion. |

N621FE (cn 48792/636) Lightly loaded FedEx MD-11F is now rocketing out from RWY32 at Anchorage - because of the Saturday maybe? As the sun was suddenly jumping into the frame, it gave me an interesting yellowish hue. The thermometer in the vehicle showed that it was -9F (-22.8C) which made me pretty cold; but, as you might know, I like winter so that I was really excited what I am doing here! The horizontal stabilizer and tail section were shadowed onto the puff of clouds created by break dusts. Pretty cool effect I would say. |
