OV-103 (cn OV-103) Many journalists and photographers flock in front of the Launch Pad 39B to watch the service structure roll away from Discovery at 11:00 pm on July 12. It was truly a stunning moment when everyone was anxiously waiting for. As the initial launch attempt in the following day had been scrubbed because the fuel sensor in the external tank did not work properly, it finally had launched on July 26 -- the first Space Shuttle mission since Columbia's disaster 2 1/2 years ago which left the entire fleet grounded. |

Taken with a borrowed all-manual Nikomat camera, 24 mm lens, f/16, Kodak Royal Gold 100 film. When the exposure was stopped in this shot, the shuttle was approximately 229 statute miles downrange. |

G-BOAC (cn 204) Late afternoon arrival of Concorde as BA002. After she landed, several other airplanes had to perform a go-around due to a deflated tyre on G-BOAC, while the runway was being checked and cleaned for debris. Only when looking at the photo's at home, I found out that its RH front tyre on the right main landing gear was already deflated and deformed on approach!
