Australia - Air Force
Boeing 707-338C(KC)
Avalon (Geelong) (AVV / YMAV)
Australia - Victoria, February 21, 1997
Remark
Photographer
A20-624 (cn 19624/689) An RAAF Boeing 707 'Aerial Tanker' Aircraft (in original white/grey paint scheme) overflies Avalon Airfield (with two Hornet F/A-18A fighters following the Air-Air Refuelling drogues) during the 1997 Avalon Airshow. (Arrival aspect). I believe that one of the Hornets is A21-55. The crowd was disappointed that the Hornets weren't 'Hooked Up!'

Remark
Photographer
35069 / 36-16 (cn 35069) Saab have always made wonderfully charismatic fighters, and the Draken is no exception. This fine example is preserved, in F16 Wing colours, at Le Bourget's Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace.

Untitled
North American P-51D Mustang
Camp Springs - Andrews AFB (Washington NAF) (ADW / NSF / KADW)
USA - Maryland, May 20, 2006
Remark
Photographer
NL51JB / 473029/B7-E (cn 122-39488) As someone told me that I should not leave the airshow without seeing the Heritage Flight, now I understand why. Fabulous four generation fighters are flying over the Joint House Open House 2006 at Camp Springs. 1944 built P-51D completed with the invasion stripe showing us a significant Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 sound is leading her successors QF-4E Phantom II (74-1652), F-15E Strike Eagle (89-0495), and the latest F/A-22A Raptor (03-4060). What a sight!

Boeing C-135B Stratolifter (717-158)
Canberra (Fairbairn) (CBR / YSCB)
Australia - Australian Capital Territory, September 1968
Remark
Photographer
62-4126 (cn 18466) A visiting VIP from USA (accompanied by three Senior US Navy Officers) deplanes from a Military Airlift Command (MAC) C-135B (via the Cargo Door) at RAAF Fairbairn in 1968. The aircraft was later upgraded to a VC-135B (with blue/white paint scheme) for VIP duties, and carried 'United States of America' titles. Surprisingly, she re-appeared in late 2006 as an RC-135V 'Rivet Joint' aircraft, operated by 55WG Offutt AFB. (I also photographed 'Sister-Ship' VC-135B 62-4129 in Canberra in 1983.) Low res photo.

USA - Georgia, June 19, 2005
Remark
Photographer
52-1475 (cn 058) The B-57 is a modified version of the English Electric Canberra which was first flown in Great Britain on May 13, 1949. In March 1951, the USAF contracted with the Glenn Martin Company to build the Canberra in the United States under a licensing agreement with English Electric. The Martin-built B-57 made its first flight on July 20, 1953. When production was terminated in 1959, a total of 403 Canberras had been produced for the USAF. No..it is not levitating.

Plane Boats
Boeing 307 Stratoliner
Off-Airport - Miami
USA - Florida, September 27, 2003
Remark
Photographer
N19904 (cn 1997) Formerly owned/used by Howard Hughes (bought 1939 TWA). One of 10 307s built. First high-altitude commercial and first four-engine airliner in scheduled domestic service. Total of 500 flight hours over 25 years until hurricane damage in 1964. In 1974, wings/tail off, and fuselage converted motor yacht. The “plane-boat” features twin V-8 inboards incorporating the original aircraft cockpit controls that were used to fly the plane, propelling the vessel over 20 mph. Shame or glory? I am not sure. Only in Miami!
