SU-283 Floating past King Ramesses III temple (Medinet Habu) who was the second Pharaoh of the Twentieth Dynasty, located on Luxors West Bank, just to the south of the Valley of the Kings in Luxor. Taken just after dawn as we enjoy a 45 minute flight over the west bank. Photo taken from an adjacent balloon, SU-249 at 650ft. Sadly, this balloon crashed on 26th February 2013 just after 0700 not far from this location with the loss of 19 lives. There were 2 survivors, one being the pilot (Canon 50D + 24-85 USM) |

Then around 7 PM there was a break in the clouds and off we went. Sitting in the back of the Skyvan photoship, looking down on a Bronco, PC-7 and 2 Caravans in full flight, cloudsurfing at certain times.. It really takes your breath away. These pilots were caught in some wind shear, and it was really close to total disaster, since the wing almost touched the ground! You can also see the stress in main landing gear...
