This farm strip is owned by a couple of friends of mine who keep an old Cherokee in the hangar. It's also the base for a hot-air ballooning operation. Adjacent, but not visible in this shot looking roughly south, is their winery, complete with Bed & Breakfast accommodation for visitors. |

Flying in the mountains gave me a ton of photo oppertunities. This is possibly the coolest, located at the top of a mountain near Asheville the airport elevation is 4,400 feet and the tallest part of the mountain was 6,000 feet. You need permission to land there but it looks like there is a nice resort and golf course next to it. Notice the vibrant colours of the leaves as they start to turn. |
