PH-BFR / FR-035 (cn 27202/1014) "KL868 execute missed approach". I was watching a NWA DC-10 landing and I saw a KLM 747 close behind it. I was already thinking hmm not a lot of clearance. When the DC-10 landed I was already tracking the 747 and when I saw her come overhead I noticed the DC-10 still had not vacated the runway! Shortly after I heard the KLM give full throttle commencing its missed approach. Spectacular to see how fast it can climb! You can clearly see the DC-10 still on the runway. On 27 March 1977 this aircraft, as Flight 4805, collided with Pan Am 747-121 N736PA on the runway at Tenerife, Canary Island, with the loss of 583 lives. Still the worlds worst aviation disaster. |
