HL7428 (cn 28552/1160) Asiana Airlines stopped flying to Honolulu about a decade ago, and seen here is one of their B744s rotating off runway 08R in 2007! The president of South Korea, Roh Moo-Hyun, visited Guatemala for the bidding of the 2014 Winter Olympics, and is seen here leaving Honolulu for Seoul as OZ1001. |

N638US / 6638 (cn 23549/651) Wow, this is truly a moment I will never forget! On this dull wet day, runway 08L was closed forcing all traffic to arrive on 04R. As this B742 started slowing down on the runway, the clouds briefly opened up, letting the warm sunshine greet this classic. As a bonus, the Waianae mountains can were partially hidden by the clouds behind, and the plane can be seen kicking up some water. Seeing a Northwest classic B747 isn't too common these days, and they will be retired very soon. What a great way to wrap up 2006! |

B-18273 (cn 24311/869) Seem to always get this bird in HNL! This China Airlines B744 comes in from NRT on runway 04R as CI18. Lovely background for the arrival of this colorful bird! |

N177UA (cn 24384/819) I'm sure glad United Airlines replaced the usual B772 for the Chicago-Honolulu-Chiago route (UA001/UA002) with the B744. The B744 served the route for only five days, and seen here is UA002's last B744 flight, taxiing out to runway 08R. It would be back to the B772 the next day. Sure glad I was able to get the new colors as well; it looks sharp on the B744! |

N173UA / 8173 (cn 24380/759) For five days, United Airlines replaced the usual B772 for the ORD-HNL-ORD route (UA001/UA002) with the B744. N173UA is seen taxiing to runway 08R on RB. Nice to see United's B744s in HNL! |

VH-EBT (cn 23222/602) Well, it looks like QF's B743s are now history at HNL. When Jetstar Airways commenced services to HNL from SYD and MEL, QF downgraded their SYD-HNL-SYD route (QF3/QF4) to the B763. Glad I was able to nail VH-EBT landing on runway 04R. Note the HNL control tower behind, as well as those famous Waianae mountains! |

N702CK (cn 20332/161) Two classics in one shot; the one in the background being the very rare one! Great golden light bathed these two birds as they wait for their flights out of HNL. Love the puffy dark clouds against the blue evening sky. |

HL7487 (cn 26393/958) For August 2006, Korean Air upgraded the Seoul-Honolulu-Seoul sector to the B744, from the normal B777. Of course, that month went by in just a blink of an eye, and seen here is the last B744 flight taxiing out to runway 08R as KE52. I will sure miss those blue-topped jumbos here in HNL. |
