N443WN (cn 29838/1369) The cockpit of the "Spirit of Hope", named after the Ronald McDonald House. This aircraft is special for another reason; it was the "Birth of a Boeing" aircraft as well. Its construction was photographed and chronicled on the SWA Freedom Net. [Nikon D70]

Wright Flyer (1903)
Off-Airport - Washington
USA - District of Columbia, September 2, 2004
Remark
Photographer
On my birthday, I had the thrill of seeing the single most famous aircraft in the world, the original Wright Flyer. For someone who has devoted their life to aviation, it was quite a present. Check out "Wilbur" at the controls and the Wright glider hanging from the ceiling of the exhibit. [Nikon D70]

USA - Texas, July 1, 2004
Remark
Photographer
N733SA (cn 27865/320) A variation on the engine close-up shot. During a 5Y (five year) check, this No.1 engine had its fan cowls removed, nose cowl robbed and fan blades taken out for inspection of the dovetail surfaces. This shot gives a good view of the EEC, oil tank and ignition exciter boxes (all on the inboard side).

USA - Texas, September 23, 2004
Remark
Photographer
N752SW (cn 29804/387) It may look cluttered and chaotic, but a Heavy MX check is actually a highly-planned, well organized group effort. Behind this aircraft, Shamu III lurks in the background. Also of note are the white ducts which provide air conditioning (yes, even in September) and the many mechanics working on or around the airplanes. I can count seven mechanics, but then I know where to look. [Nikon D70]

N746SW (cn 29798/299) This isn't as bad as it looks. This is part of the DU optical test. However, it is fun to use in order to mess with unsuspecting pilots and mechanics. Note the rigging protractor on the captain's yoke as well as the "DO NOT OPERATE" tags.

N85SW (cn 22826/878) A sad day for a once proud lady. When this photo was taken, the aircraft had been recently retired and was awaiting a ferry flight to be cut up. Note that the logo on the tail had been painted over. When I left her, I gave her a pat on the nose for a job well done.
