Antonov An-22A Antei

Remark
Photographer
UR-09307 (cn 043481244) A very special picture for more than one reason! This shot of my first encounter with the awesome An-22 nearly didn’t happen. Having spent most of the day at Manston in the pouring rain, I was packing away ready to leave the airport - when the sun broke through the clouds creating this beautiful backdrop! The 160 mile round trip wasn’t a complete washout after all! Also, this is my 100th picture on a.net.

Antonov An-22A Antei
Bratislava - Milan Rastislav Stefanik (Ivanka) (BTS / LZIB)

RA-09342 (cn 043482282) This is definitely the best departure I saw this year ! This Antei operated by the Russian Air Force took off the runway 22 very hardly after a 2 hours stay in BTS. As you can see it used almost all the runway length as it is only about 10 meters above the ground in the end of 2900m long RWY22. What a pity that you can't hear the perfect sound of the eight blade counter rotating propellers. (Panasonic FZ30)
