N6921C / H (cn 4817) Whilst operating Military Air Transport Service (MATS) Charter flight 739/14 from Guam to Clark AFB, Philippine Islands on 15 March 1962 the aircraft went missing with the loss of all 107 on board. The crew of the SS TL Lenzen Supertanker reported seeing a mid-air explosion. The subsequent search covered 144000 sq miles using 48 aircraft and 8 surface vessels, but nothing was found. The cause of the crash remains a mystery. |

N816FT (cn 22151/478) "Henry L. Heguy". I call this "Tail of Two Tigers" - new meets old. Seen parked on Flying Tigers ramp (now FedEx). First flight was October 3, 1980. Delivery date was October 14, 1980. Other serials - 4X-AXK with El Al Cargo - delivered during January 1995, N635FE with FedEx - merged with Flying Tigers during August 1989, and also 9V-SQU with Singapore Airlines Cargo - delivered during July 1992. Wears FN 635 with FedEx, and FN 816 with Flying Tigers. Broken-up at TLV on October 11, 2011. |
