3-133 From Jan to May 1963, IIAF sent four F-86Fs (3-133,3-140,3-146 & 3-150) to the Congo for UN operations. The unit was apparently named 103rd Tactical Fighter Squadron for the duration. Five Swedish Air Force J-29B Tunnans and five Philippines Air Force Sabres are also visible in a lineup in right side of photo. Eight of best F-86 pilots of Vahdati AB together with 33 ground crew and their four Sabres entered in Kamina on 19 Jan 1963. This photo is taken from a UH-19D via Brig-Genral Khatami`s camera. |

DS778 The vast majority of Lancasters were powered by the inline Merlin engine. This is one of 200 powered by the Bristol Hercules radial engine. They were built in 1942/43 by Armstrong Whitworth as an insurance against shortages of Merlins. DS778 was flown by 408 (Canadian) Squadron based at RAF Balderton, Notts.
