Other serials - N747QC with Air Zaire as "Mont Hoyo" - November 1973 thru March 1975, and also N747PA with Kabo Air - delivered May 1, 1993, and Aeroposta. Stored at SBD & broken-up. Fuselage to SEL as an eatery July 2000. |

N734PA (cn 19641/7) Clipper Flying Cloud, later Clipper Champion of the Seas. First flown on 10/31/1969, Pan Am brought this 747, line number 7, to LAX in November 1969 for it's debut showing and public display. I believe this was the very first time a 747 was at LAX. The photograph was taken on the Imperial Terminal ramp. 734PA flew for Pan Am until the airline ceased operations in 1991. Later with UPS as N691UP, the airplane has now been scrapped. |

Staff arranged stands so the public could see the First Boeing 747 arrival in Australia on 04Oct1970. Pan Am's B747-121 N734PA arrived at night, 9.5 hours late. Crowds turned out three days later when N741PA arrived on time. (Pan Am's First New York to London B747 Flight was on 21Jan1970.) Sydney has now seen the world's First A380 Airline arrival - Singapore Airlines 9V-SKA on 25Oct2007 |

The bay below is Chai Wan, on the NE coast of Hong Kong Island. Thanks to Joseph K.K. Lee for identifying the location. Lufthansa Boeing 747-130 D-ABYB took me to Hong Kong from Frankfurt, via Athens, Kuwait, Delhi and Bangkok. D-ABYB ("Hessen", Del: 13Apr1970) was the first civil Boeing 747 to crash - on 20Nov1974 at Nairobi Airport, Kenya, sadly with the loss of 59 lives. Low res photo. |
