G-ALUN (cn SR901) The first Princess flying boat under construction in the Columbine hangar on the Isle of Wight. Not yet officially registered when this photo was taken. First flight was on 22 August 1952. Sadly the Princess never went into production, and G-ALUN was scrapped in 1967. |

WL880 / J-132 Nice view of a Wyvern just landed on Eagle's flight deck. The Mirror Projector Landing Sight, invented by British Commander N. Goodhart can be seen behind the left wheel of the aircraft. This system was first adopted by the Royal Navy and was subsequently used by all other navies. Note arrestor wire at full stretch, which will be unhooked once the aircraft has stopped and automatically drawn aft, to await the next aircraft. |

NC21727 (cn 2143) Photo taken by my late grandmother, Lydia Tabbert, near Vero Beach after the plane went down in a storm. She wrote on the back of the picture that "13 passengers all injured but saved." Records indicate that there were no fatalities among the 16 people on board. |
