G-AWZB (cn 2303) In the early 60s at BEA's insistence De Havilland downsized their Trident project to about 80percent of the 727 weight and thrust. By the late 60s BEA wanted to buy 727s and 737s but a political compromise was constructed whereby the Trident 3B with its RB-162 booster engine was purchased instead of the 727, and the BAC-111-500 instead of the 737. THe booster engine made the Trident 3B noisy. Some were exported to China |

YI-AEC (cn 2129) Not really the time to have been messing around experimenting with low shutter speeds to blur the background, but I guess it didn't seem so special then. Simple history - to Iraqi 13.5.66 and wfu Baghdad 6.77; all three Iraqi Tridents presumed b/u, although one fuselage survived till at least 2003 on a training ground |

55-0668 (cn 9) The USAF ordered 116 "Hustlers" for the Strategic Air Command (SAC) between 1960 and 1970. B-58s set 19 world speed and altitude records and won 5 different aviation trophies. 26 destroyed in service accidents. Except 8, the rest were sold for scrap. Here is one of the 8 survivors in great shape and still looking like the deadliest nuclear strike aircraft ever built. "Calling Dr.Strangelove". |
