N12907 / D8 (cn 15742/27187) This former RAF aircraft, built as a C-47, was seriously damaged in a landing accident at CLT in 2000 while operating a civilian cargo flight for Saber Cargo. It's convenient that the Carolinas Aviation Museum was right on airport grounds so the damaged aircraft could be put out to a decent pasture. |

N1944A / 315211/J8-Z (cn 19677) Although marked as a C-47A, this aircraft is actually registered as a DC-3C-S1C3G, to Wings Venture of Connecticut. Despite the American registration, it is kept at Kemble where it is seen here parked next to the control tower following an open day the previous weekend. The picture was taken from the control tower roof. (Thanks to the ever-helpful ATC staff for permission.) |
