N512MC (cn 21220/294) Ah, the moon! Atlas Air B747 has just arrived at the designated parking space, and seems to start enjoying the moon rise while refueling. Southern Air B.747 (N746SA) parks behind. Setting sun illuminates the peaks of mountains beautifully whereas the ground does not completely turn dark which is usually the case of snow. I wish you could smell the holy atmosphere that I felt at the moment. In a reality, I think it might be a good idea to take my way back now before the road will completely freeze again. |

PH-BFR / FR-035 (cn 27202/1014) "KL868 execute missed approach". I was watching a NWA DC-10 landing and I saw a KLM 747 close behind it. I was already thinking hmm not a lot of clearance. When the DC-10 landed I was already tracking the 747 and when I saw her come overhead I noticed the DC-10 still had not vacated the runway! Shortly after I heard the KLM give full throttle commencing its missed approach. Spectacular to see how fast it can climb! You can clearly see the DC-10 still on the runway. N70529 (cn 49921/1752) Ship 529 waits for the ramp to reopen after the lightening subsides. This was a spectacular storm and I only went out to shoot pictures after about 30 minutes of nearly continuous lightening. Really a treat to watch, but not very conducive to a smooth operation. If anyone wonders why the ramp closes when lightening is in the area this should be explanation enough. This strike was just outside the perimeter fence but this storm produced hundreds of strikes within the fence, according to the detector equip. |

OV-105 (cn OV-105) Launch of Space Shuttle Endeavour from Pad 39B on mission STS-97. This is a five minute exposure taken from the Causeway (about 7 miles away from the pad). Taken with a borrowed all-manual Nikomat camera, 24 mm lens, f/16, Kodak Royal Gold 100 film. When the exposure was stopped in this shot, the shuttle was approximately 229 statute miles downrange. |

VT-AIM (cn 25074/862) Have you heard the old saying "Suffering For Your Art"? Well I did just that. While running to get this shot I hit my little toe really hard on the walkway curb in the lower left hand corner of this shot. ( I was wearing flip flops at the time, feet exposed) A huge wave of pain gripped me, nevertheless I made it over in time to get this palm tree framed shot. The next day the whole toe was black and blue and stayed that way for some time. Yes, a shot I will never forget! |

N649AS (cn 30663/1386) Wow! Northern lights and the Great Dipper!! This could be one of the ultimate window views that I could expect. Mother Nature surely does know how to pose for photographs. However, this is changing forever and could disappear suddenly as we are now traveling more than 700 km/h with 10 km off the ground. Definitely, this is a damn difficult image to capture where my passion for photography comes from. The red cast on the wing comes from the anti-collision light as I managed to synchronize my photo with it. |
