N669US / 6309 (cn 24224/803) I don't know if I'm lucky or unlucky. I experienced dumping fuel twice in just six months! First time was on a Air China 747 (Phot id:842786) and here comes the second one. The #4 engine was down when we enrouted DTW-NRT on NW11. We had to dump fuel before diverting to SEA for an emergency landing. Though delayed several hours in SEA for engine repaire and I missed the connection in NRT, I was very happy to be able to take this shot. So, if you want to take those photos, fly with me!:) |

B-2471 (cn 29071/1229) The most ununsual sunrise I have ever experienced. We are pumping out the fuel before making an emergency landing to Anchorage. On our flight from LAX to PEK, a passenger was sick and experienced a shock. In case of life threat of the passenger, the captain decided to divert to ANC. RA-86140 (cn 51483211102) No more runway left = Must rotate! Look at where the 1000 ft marker sign and where the plane is! One heart-stopping takeoff! The front gear of the plane actually got up before the '1' marker but the body remains heavy. I think the pilots know exactly where to rotate. The Ilyushin also kicked up a large sandstorm on the beach and it was barely above it after finally airborne. IL86 is such a beast! [Nikon D2x, High speed crop mode] |

G-EZEK (cn 2224) LOW and SLOW - viva la visual west approach!!! "Easy 8951" made its trip towards Innsbruck once again an unbelievable literally one!!! She came in lower and slower than usual, as she was cleared to minimum approach speed due to some small VFR traffic in the area. I captured her now right approximately 6nm west of the airport on finals for runway08, doing the famous visual west approach through the valley inbound from Kempten KPT) VOR. In the background the ski area "Rangger Köpfl", elevated at around 6500 feet (1939m) with skiers and their tracks is clearly visible. A happy new year 2009 to all! :) |

Bora Bora! I'm quite happy to have landed there as pilot in command of my rental aircraft. Picture was taken on the 150 nautical miles return leg Bora Bora - Tahiti, after a short sightseeing trip to Tupuai. 25 km in the distance, Tahaa island can be seen. During WWII, the USA built a military base here. The airfield, now 1500 meters long, is was is left of it. |
