OV-103 (cn OV-103) If you were an astronaut and were going to climb aboard the shuttle, the round hatch is the entry way. So this is how you enter the $2.4 billion dollar (list price) machine. The White blankets (seen here) coating the aircraft are made of coated Nomex felt reusable surface insulation. They are used on the upper payload bay doors, portions of the midfuselage and aft fuselage sides, portions of the upper wing surface and a portion of the OMS/RCS pods for heat exclusion. OV-103 (cn OV-103) The day before launch, I chatted with the guy in the Snack Mobile. "I saw the Columbia's lift-off from here; but, they've never come back. Shuttle does have to come back because we are always waiting for them to cheer," he said. I was moved. Yes, those who have someone waiting for you with cherished love are beautiful. People who have the place to come back are wonderful. In the America's Spaceport, the truck represents my feeling toward the seven bravest astronauts. Go Discovery! We are behind you!! |

B-HSJ (cn 1253) My first time to photo an aircraft at night in Hong Kong. This baby dragon was waiting for takeoff clearance on runway 07R. The lighting conditions were so poor for me to take a photo. In addition, owing to the light traffic at night, only a few aircrafts stopped for a while and waited for the clearance, while most others simply did not stop and started rolling. A memorable experience though! |
