F-PDHV The highlight of the PFA rally 2005 was the amazing homebuilt metal deltawing. Without doubt the strangest aircraft i have ever seen. 4X-OYG (cn 1191) This Israeli Cozy Mark IV on its way from Oskosh, landed at Reykjavík at 19:34 and when the nose wheel touched the runway the wheel itself broke off at the end of the strut. In the photo it is seen flying off and just about to strike the fuselage. Fortunately this did not cause any more trouble than the fiber strut making smoke and leaving a white line on the runway, taxiway and ramp. Could have been a lot worse. |

It is called a TIFS (Total In-Flight Simulator) and was made from a Convair C-131. The front cockpit could be set up with the cockpit of anything and through computers the aircraft can be made to handle as that particular aircraft. This aircraft was used a lot to train shuttle astronauts early in the program on how to fly the orbitor. |
