I-DUPB (cn 48431/534) Ever seen an aircraft come in for landing bascially below the checkerboard!!!! This was THE lowest and scariest approach I ever saw at Kai Tak. The AZ MD11 was so low that my heart missed a beat as I thought that he was going to put the aircraft into Kowloon City. If you compare this photo to others on the IGS, you will see just how low the MD11 was! |

D-ABVS (cn 28286/1109) A famous landmark for all crews approaching Rwy 13 at Kai Tak: Overhead the famous sport ground during the final turn, the crew has to turn and keep the descent rate, a rather unique experience close to the houses. A lot of condensation above the wing. |

D-ABYU (cn 22668/538) My late father took this picture. If I remember rightly this aircraft aborted its take off after an engine failure, this was the result, I believe the airframe was recovered and put back in service, sorry for the poor quality pictures but I thought they may be of interest. |
