G-EZIP (cn 2514) The majority of you all have seen those magic pictures by Luis Rosa, with a fantastic Algarve dusk atmosphere and the sun aligned with the runway while a charter flight floating in on final approach makes the scene perfect! My few days in southern Portugal certainly were among the best I ever had aviation photography-wise. Local time was now 6:59 PM and I was trying to figure out how to shoot BA269 that was on a long straight in final for 24R. I had success with this location once before about a year ago and thought I would give it a try once again. Happily, everything turned out nicely, with the suns orangish hue enhancing every part of this shot. |

OV-104 (cn OV-104) Space Shuttle Atlantis is a small tip on the trailing column of fire and smoke after launching on its journey to the International Space Station on mission STS-117. Liftoff from Launch Pad 39A was on-time at 7:38:04 pm (EDT). Wide angle view allows you to spot the famous countdown clock at the bottom of the frame. This is where we called a 'Press Site' being located 3.2 miles from the Pad 39A - the closest point as far as the civilians are allowed to go (except those remote control cameras). |
