5N-AUG (cn 329) Cockpit of this ex Nigerian Airways A310 is looking a little "economy class" these days. I assume the Nigerian crew did not have to sit on aluminium patio furniture, staring at the instruments through smoked perspex?!! |

N19904 (cn 1997) Formerly owned/used by Howard Hughes (bought 1939 TWA). One of 10 307s built. First high-altitude commercial and first four-engine airliner in scheduled domestic service. Total of 500 flight hours over 25 years until hurricane damage in 1964. In 1974, wings/tail off, and fuselage converted motor yacht. The “plane-boat” features twin V-8 inboards incorporating the original aircraft cockpit controls that were used to fly the plane, propelling the vessel over 20 mph. Shame or glory? I am not sure. Only in Miami! |

LV-HIJ (cn 22346) On April 30th 1964, this Curtiss Commando was cruising at 18000 feet from Copiapo (Chile) to Cordoba (Argentina), carrying 8 race horses from Lima (Peru) and 6 people (4 crew members). A sudden malfunction in an engine forced the crew to try an emergency landing on the half dried lake "Laguna Brava", at 4271 meters. All were rescued 2 days later, except the horses, and the plane which is in good condition but scrapped due to the difficulty and risk of repairing it there. Help with the editing from Gary W |

XA-BBI (cn 19528/465) What is left of BBI seen here displayed at Flyers 2006 airshow. As off all year 2006, it was recently on sale at ebay... it's a "luxury limo" but with a very bad touch decoration on the inside if you ask me... if you see it on the streets don't get surprised as you've already seen it first here on airliners.net! |
