The fast moving clouds in the far side plus with the beautiful airport scence made this one a superbe photo.Note a Sichuan Airbus was holding for taking off after our clearance of the runway. I have seen many sloped runways but a CURVED one is new to me. And next to a busy highway too!! Only about 60 movements a year though from this private airfield that dates back to 1917. Back then it was used by the Army and marine aviation. In between the airfield has been closed and hangars housing the local fire brigade.

That is the runway, the winsock and the fire equipment of the small private island named Bird Island. A grass runway for only one plane a day. The Twin Otter from Air Seychelles first fly over the island to see the windsock for the right runway decision. No tower and no radio clearances are available.
